Julie A. Smyk graduated from the University of Michigan in 1993, with a B.A. in Psychology. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1996.

She has been representing Bankruptcy Debtors in the Eastern District of Michigan since 1997. She was a Board Member of the Consumer Bankruptcy Association from 2002 – 2006. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Ms. Smyk’s practice focuses exclusively on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters. In 2016, Ms. Smyk joined Thav Gross PC as a member of their financial crisis management and bankruptcy team.
